Matt Jones Wants Washington To Release Or Trade Him

Jun 1, 2017 8:27 AM

Matt Jones isn't in the Washington's plans, which is why he hasn't yet attended their voluntary workout sessions.

The running back wants to be released or traded. Washington has no plans to release Jones.

Jones opened the 2016 season as Washington's starter, rushing for 460 yards in the first seven games. He was sidelined by a knee injury, then lost his starting job to rookie free agent Rob Kelley. He was inactive for the team's final nine games.

Richard Sherman Envisioned Himself Playing For Cowboys, Patriots

May 25, 2017 11:05 AM

A few months after winning the Super Bowl, Richard Sherman brought an unexpected intensity to a Seattle Seahawks' practice that triggered multiple scuffles.

Sherman picked off Russell Wilson and sought to get inside the head of one of the NFL's most celebrated young quarterbacks.

"You f---ing suck!" yelled Sherman as he threw the ball back to Wilson.

Less than a year later, Wilson was picked off by Malcolm Butler on the one-yard line in Super Bowl XLIX.

Sherman has told teammates and friends that he believes the Seahawks should have won multiple Super Bowls by now. Sherman and the Seahawks are also open to a parting of ways via trade.

Sherman believes Pete Carroll hasn't held Wilson or many young Seahawks to the standard of their defense.

"He's always looking at what other people are doing," says a former assistant coach who has had many talks with Sherman. "He's made it personal. It's your fault we're not winning. It wears guys thin."

Sherman and Carroll have held several private conversations this offseason. Sherman had told friends that he allowed himself to imagine playing for the Cowboys, maybe the Patriots, hoping Lynch would come out of retirement and join him in New England. The Seahawks weren't trading Sherman, however, unless a bad team offered multiple first round picks.

Peyton Manning Urged Dolphins To Trade For Julius Thomas

May 8, 2017 5:03 PM

The Miami Dolphins asked Peyton Manning about Julius Thomas before acquiring him from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Dolphins offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen has coached Manning and reached out for his opinion on the tight end.

"[Manning] talked a lot about [Thomas asking], 'Would you stay out and help me with this? Take me through this. Would you watch a little tape with me? Would you explain what you want on this?' And he still does the same thing. I’'l see him in Coach Gase's office and his questions are right. His questions and his process are right, which as a coach, [is what] you're looking for," Christensen said.

Thomas made the Pro Bowl in his two seasons as a starter with the Denver Broncos, when Manning was the quarterback.

Teams Tried To Trade Up For Mitch Trubisky, But Not As High As No. 2

May 3, 2017 11:49 PM

The Chicago Bears weren't the only team that wanted to trade up to select Mitch Trubisky, but they were the only team willing to move all the way up to No. 2.

Jon Robinson, the general manager of the Tennessee Titans, told SiriusXM NFL Radio that he fielded calls from teams interested in the fifth pick. When the Bears traded up to the second selection, he said teams stopped calling.

"We had some calls about pick No. 5," Robinson said. "When the trade happened between San Francisco and Chicago, it kinda threw water on anything in that spot."
